Yeah... I even get paid to sit on people sometimes 😂 Jokes aside, this is an example of an intense stretch which should only be performed under supervision and guidance of a coach who actually understands the movement and it’s goals. For instance, if the coach can’t communicate the technical details (e.g. externally rotating the shoulders) or if they don’t support you/create pressure in the exact right places, it negates the benefit of the whole thing and can even cause damage. I guess that’s the difference between trend riders and real seekers. Trend riders try to crassly mimic things they see, instead of researching and learning those things properly. They end up damaging their clients who all the while think they are making gains. As a trainer in a position of trust this is wrong and dangerous. Seekers actually bother to gain a real understanding of their areas in more depth so their clients can learn things correctly and be taught at the best standard possible. Don’t accept mediocrity. For me it’s not about how many reps or types of movements you can do. It’s about what you can do with the overall skill gained for the body. By that I mean, from gaining knowledge, experience and strength through training in different ways, you can learn to heal, move, teach and perform better. If you are a seeker you gradually connect more and more dots over time which leads to a deeper level of understanding and mastery of your body. I’ve been training in bodyweight skills and combat sports since I was 7 years old - once I saw that there are so many connections, synchronicities and consistencies through all the movements I was learning, I began to connect the dots. Through decades of school study, self-study, emperical research, sport science and perseverance, I’ve been able to improve and enhance not only my own performance and understanding but also for a wide and global network of people. How you end up using knowledge you have gained to manifest things into your life is down to how you understand, treat and respect that knowledge and it’s applications.
