#the100dayproject Day 6 ‘COTTON CANDY IN MOTION’ Eeeeee barely made it in time for this one. Picked a rather simple execution but glad to not have let day 6 go without a piece. I could add this to my Escape On An Aeroplane series perhaps. :) It took me roughly half an hour to create. I wasn’t listening to music while creating this. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
#the100dayproject Day 5 ‘CORROSION IN THE PINK ROOM’ I’m traveling for the next five days for work and then most of next month too. It makes me feel concerned about whether I’ll be able to keep up with the consistency of doing an artwork a day. Home is always so much better for my discipline, no matter how many projects are simultaneously going on. Working from home always allows me to plan my day, while travel on the other hand comes with it’s unpredictable schedules and contingencies. I’ll try my best and should I fail, I always have the next day. :) It took me roughly three hours to create this. I was listening to The XX while creating this. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
#the100dayproject Day 4 ‘TRAIN TO SEAWORLD’ For all the digital artworks I create for the 100 day project, I thought it would be fun to add the duration it took me to create the work and the music I was listening to while making it. It perhaps sets a bit of a mood in my mind of how it might be perceived. :) I really struggled on this one to pick whether I like the black and white option more or the colour. Both have their positives and negatives in my opinion but I felt I should just present both together as it was too hard to pick and I like the feel this creates. ^_^ It took me roughly two and a half hours to create this work. I was listening to the soundtracks of Amélie and The Wind Rises while creating this. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
#the100dayproject Day 3 ‘WALKING IN A DAYDREAM’ Since I started this project, I have realised the importance of thinking small. I started off with so many grand ideas which included a large apparatus, or being in a certain kind of light, having my camera with me at all times for the next 100 days, to name a few... They were beautiful in concept but not for what was required to be executed on a daily basis. Although they were some wonderful ideas, they were actually holding me back from starting this project. At times an ambitious nature, need for so-called perfection and a larger than life idea can be the ones holding smaller projects from happening. So I learnt to start small. I wrote down a list of comparatively achievable ideas and picked this one to go with. In doing so I gave myself the opportunity to enjoy being a part of The 100 Day Project. :) It took me roughly twenty minutes to create this work. I was listening to The Shins - Oh, Inverted World while creating this. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
#the100dayproject Day 2 ‘I IMAGINE THE SAND IN PINK’ I enjoy transforming images to make them look edible. For me, working on this was a very peaceful and calming experience. I wonder if you will feel so while scrolling through these images. I imagine these as large prints in white frames on white walls in a big room. As you walk through the room looking at this series, you can hear the sea at its calmest. How lovely it would be to make this a sensory experience. :) It took me roughly an hour to create this work. I was listening to Chopin while creating this. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
My ongoing series KENSHŌ is one of those kinds I itch to work on every single day. What’s not to love about spending a full day looking at beautiful flowers inside a computer screen? My idea of a perfect day in fact. ^_^ Making these is a long process though, each piece sometimes takes over ten hours to finish, so I have saved this itch for a couple of months later. Do any of you also calculatedly postpone certain goals? I find it satisfying and relaxing as it’s waiting for me in the near future. Just waiting for me to reach it at the right time. :) This series started when @dsgnfbrc asked me to create a piece for their Gender Issue and since then I’ve been expanding it in various ways.
#the100dayproject Day 1 ‘RICKETY’ A few days back my sister and I were talking on the phone as usual while we worked. She told me about The 100 Day Project and how she wanted to be a part of it, but wasn’t sure if she’d be able to make the time. Since the year began both of us have been working hard on our respective commissioned projects with not much time to spare, so I knew what she meant. Yet, I encouraged her wholeheartedly and said that it’s always possible to take out 15 minutes or half an hour a day to work on this. She figured out a schedule and started working on the project (@theblckpen), while here I was wondering, if I could encourage her to go for it, I should too! So for the next 100 days I’m going to be creating different kinds of digital artworks. I’m hoping to create them in under 45 minutes but let’s see how that goes. Within the digital art space I’m keen to work on photo manipulation, photo colouring, typography, gifs and perhaps even something 3D should time permit on some day. The first one I created for the project is a photo manipulation of a building next to my hotel during my stay in Maldives. I loved how the light and reflection played with the windows. It took me roughly an hour and a half to create this. I made this while listening to Erik Satie and Ravel. #100DaysOfDigitalDreaming
One of my early print works for @lofficielindia :) For this project I had a very particular execution in mind for hair and makeup. It was really enjoyable to work with Namah and have her use her beautiful artistic skills to have my conceptualisation seen through. Apart from a specific colour palette and stroke style, my brief to her was to use the face as a canvas and to not think of it much as makeup. Very excited to develop on this and create more. It’s the best feeling to work with super talented fellow creatives. Grateful for each one I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with and those who have become dear friends. :) Creative Direction & Photography | @rhea.gupte Hair & Makeup | @nummmzzz Model | Samantha Nastaite
I wrote a poem. I wrote till me hands bled and my mind wept. I wrote between murmurs and silence. I wrote till my heart could be traced between words Methodically penned. I poured within context and rambled without Vomitted pages, not a moment of doubt. I shed not a tear, inflicted not a tear I hid from the world This strange despair. Two sheets became ten I wrote a poem.
New work from my ongoing ‘Escape On An Aeroplane’ Digital Art Series. This one is titled ‘Where Unicorns Live.’ I’m currently in the process of partnering with a wonderful platform to have my art prints sold online. I’m sure this will also give me the incentive to make the time to create more in this space. Exciting opportunities ahead. ^_^
I have been brainstorming ways to put together my photography portfolio. Right now, it’s too scattered and I’m trying to figure out what the best representation for it would be. It should hopefully be ready by the end of this month. I’m keen to have all my work on a single page but since it expands across fashion, travel, portraiture and digital art, I’m trying to find a balance in how it could all go together without making multiple pages. Hmm. Decisions, decisions. Also it’s hard for me to pick between all my bodies of work, stuck between nothing is good enough and being unable to decisively edit images out.🤷🏼♀️
Blanket me in my dreams My feet are taking root My mind is blooming Under your canopy Of stars Of memories Of treasures unseen Of the way you would scream My name Your embrace That warmth on a summer day You filled my heart with love for you And it’s still spilling Like a blanket of waves.
I have been building my home studio one piece at a time since last year. It feels similar to putting together a home. I have been experimenting with lighting techniques and understanding what I like and dislike and simply figuring out how to achieve the light I have in my mind in the picture. The grand outdoors will always be my favourite to shoot at but there is a unique beauty to shooting in a completely controlled environment and the freedom that it comes with.😌
This was a beautiful day, eight hours of continuous hard work with the most dedicated team. We shot this campaign at one of my favourite beaches in South Goa, we stayed in pretty tents and as soon as the sun rose, we started creating. I am so glad to have booked Irene for this one, to be my punk-mermaid-goddess, because she carried through a mouth full of salt water and being constantly pushed ashore by the waves with the kind of grace and determination that I could go on and on about. Also my talented Namah for constantly being on top of excess sand and every hair strand. I love you girls and I’m so excited to work together again next week!
