For @natgeo I’ve been to the south of Spain to meet Joelia and Jaime, asteroids hunter. Here is how they survey the sky every night. These 3 Telescopes, in the south of Spain, work alone in the mountain under a non-stoping stop moving and shooting loop commanded from 40 kilometers away, a stressing and intense robotic mode of operation.  They collect around 50.000 images of the sky every night. Those images contain stars and also distant galaxies and nebulas, but much closer asteroids and satellites too. The story ‘They Are Watching You’ — is now online: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/02/surveillance-watching-you/

Among those, 2012 DA14, named "Duende", the closest to Earth flyby of an asteroid with potential threat by its size registered so far. ‘We are watching you is out’ on @natgeo this month. #
