The sweaty faces of Day 35. Total Body Core. LOVED it! (Core=sliders!) Six months ago I had a double mastectomy for breast cancer. This means I have no breast tissue, just pectoral muscles and reconstructive implants. I’m noticing with all of the shoulder and arm workouts that I actually visualize my pectoral muscles working with every single rep. My left side is still healing, even though the surgery was a double. My left side (because of the lymph node surgery too) is just weaker. I’m not able to use as much weight on that side. Today I noticed such an improvement! I really think the weights are helping that left side to heal and to heal with strength. As the weeks progress with these workouts, I feel pleasantly surprised when I can add just a little more weight. Progress is so incremental but it’s is still progress! ✅ In the field of reading education the research says that when kids are read to daily from birth to age 5, they gain an exponential amount of knowledge, vocabulary, and listening comprehension (to name a few skills) compared to kids who are not read to for hear years. In fact, the research says that the kids who aren’t read to will never be able to make up this deficit when they begin school. This is referred to as “The Matthew Effect” which is that the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. OR those who continue to progress (through exercise, reading, etc) eventually obtain exponential gains while people who are not progressing are actually sliding backwards in comparison. ✅ I have definitely slid backwards in my own fitness journey over the last few years by not being consistent with my daily nutrition and/or exercise. I am paying the price now because I think about where I would be if I had just stayed the course. ✅ The good news is that we can ALL get back on track and stay on track with fitness and nutrition. But we have to begin, and commit to staying consistent. If not, it will catch up to us as we age in the form of injury, illness, or reduced mobility. If 50 is the new 30, let’s all stay young! Living healthy for our kids is the best gift we can give to them. It teaches them to live the same way! Who’s with me?? 🙋🏼‍♀️
