Repost from @atlantafarmerscoalition - This film is amazing. Dolores Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers union, coined the term 'Si se puede', and devoted her life to workers rights, womens rights, equality for people of color, and environmental justice. Despite being in the midst of a male dominated culture, she rose to the top as a powerful and influential leader, and was ahead of her time in understanding the intersectionality of all movements for social and environmental justice. Streaming on PBS for free until 4/24. (Thanks for the recommendation @maitufoods!) . . . . . #dolorespbs

Inspired @doloresthemovie @bvoperahouse! Thanks @independentlens @kqed @sparksf #doloresPBS 💫 I appreciated how the documentary feature on highlighted: her ; intersectionality in her struggle for ; her family’s sacrifices for the movement - all within the context of the broader . ‘Twas so meaningful to screen this film in SF’s oldest theatre, built in 1888.

Happy birthday to American labor leader and civil rights activist . :: :: :: “The first testament to her lobbying and negotiating talents were demonstrated in securing Aid For Dependent Families (“AFDC”) and disability insurance for farm workers in the State of California in 1963, an unparalleled feat of the times. She was also instrumental in the enactment of the Agricultural Labor Relations Act of 1975. This was the first law of its kind in the United States, granting farm workers in California the right to collectively organize and bargain for better wages and working conditions.” Learn more by visiting http://doloreshuerta.org . :: :: Watch #dolorespbs . :: :: Art: @kendrickdaye repost via @equalityequation : :
